Generally, any exercise program offers a benefit. People want to look better, feel better, and actually be
healthier. But, most exercise regimens, without the knowledge of the big picture, use the traditional un-integrated
approaches, that, in and of themselves, actually misalign the body causing other problems to ensue.
Many of the formats offered in today's world that suggest minimal effort are simply a psychological hypnotism
promising pie in the sky without the real work, and without working smart. Activity that is not demanding is
basically worthless relative to an exercise perspective. It should be noted that muscular strength is the underlying
basis of functionality and stability.
Doing special flexibility programs for dancers, certain programs for gymnasts, martial arts, and others are not
good for the average person. They are especially not good for properly acquired strength, or for joint mobility.
Most retired dancers and gymnasts have severe problems. Doing daily martial arts workouts for years produced
problems with my knees and arms. I have since overcome these problems with diet, and by a greater focus on
strength and applied yoga cross training.
Permanently stretched ligaments, and the other problems that certain modalities produce are not brought to the
attention of the fitness consumer. The hypermobility syndrome that arises from these programs cause pain,
balance instability, and dysfunction. Some of these tout their ability to elongate muscles, but that is not
biologically possible. Muscle length is genetically inherited and cannot be altered by exercise.
Actually, muscularity breeds flexilibity. Trying to gain an overflexibility by these other means can damage the
structural integrity of joints. The steady stress and strain on tendons and ligaments from some modes of
exercise is harmful. The belly of the muscle is the only thing that can be effectively stretched, and that is
accomplished by contraction.
Some programs put an emphasis on very slow and full breathing during types of exertion. But, this is absolutely
incorrect. Free and uncontrolled breathing is necessary during most exercise. Any other way can possibly set up a
condition for stroke. Breath control should only be used under certain conditions, and for certain results. Much truth
about exercise has been covered over by the various sub par methods.
The aerobics craze that has been around for years is finally starting to let up, due to the surfacing of new
knowledge. It can keep your body in a state of semi-exhaustion, when done several days a week, over a period
of time, not to mention the unecessary pounding the body has to absorb. This steady activity can produce a
muscle wasting, which in turn leads to a depressed metabolic rate.
Exercise should help in the loss of fat, not muscle. Ultra aerobics does just the opposite. There is a need to
create a deep metabolic response in the skeletal muscles for weight loss, and for overall health, to include the
heart. Muscle strength and size affects these aspects greatly.
And these powerlifting or body building regimens which display brute strength or cosmetic appearance do not
produce an all-round functional athletic ability, nor optimum health. Each may cause you to look different, but most
people want to look better, not stand out so much. The look of these type exercisers is attained by over training to
a certain degree, which puts extra stress and strain on your bodily systems, especially if you are approaching
middle age, and can be a drain on some critical resources of the body.
The confusion in nutritional information, the mis-information of the target heart rate, the dance your way to
health crap, the phoniness of isokenetics testing used by physical therapists and insurance companies, and the
idiocy of all these spot reducing gimmicks are finally being put under the magnifying glass. Many of these are a
waste of time. It is time to quit fooling yourself, and get down to some real work.
An overall synergistic integration of modalities, along with inner work, will make you feel astoundingly better!
Using traditional exercise as your mainstay in being healthier will produce results that can be questionable,
according to your routine.
Conclusively realize that change comes from the inside out. Quit looking at symptoms and go to the root.
Problems arise when we are separated from our authenticity. The need is to bring all-intelligent inner guidance
to your outer perspective. Shift your inner viewpoint and change your world.
